Great Lakes Primitives Gathering is now planning another legendary event, August 17(set up and orientation) to Aug 21, held at Cedar Lake Outdoor Center, Chelsea, MI. As you may be aware, this historic event is scheduled for the 3rd weekend in August, a stable, dependable date you can depend on.Our goal is to continue to offer ALL participants the same reasonable, affordable low cost. A value filled 4 day event of learning, sharing and a rejoining a familiar community that welcomes individuals and families, young and seniors and all skill levels. Your economical registration fee does not affect the quality you receive and covers most of your expenses for the 4 day GLPG Event.Here is what is included, “Big Bang for your Bucks”: -Cedar Lake Outdoor Center, acres of woods, flora, trails and lake; Natures design equals a setting for the Great Lakes Primitive Gathering. -Open, wooded or secluded areas for tent camping, RV space on site, bunk houses available to anyone interested, no extra cost. -Running potable water, flush toilets, free hot showers on site, handicap accessible. -Lake for swimming, fishing, canoes and kayaks available for your use. There are also archery and atlatl ranges available. -Home cooked meals, on site, by our own Heidi Dayringer and Amy Wykes. Dinner Wednesday, evening, 3 meals daily-Thursday, Friday and Saturday; breakfast and Sunday Breakfast . Options available for everyone (vegetarian and gluten free) -Daily class schedules, workshops and impromptu offerings. Hands on classes with instruction skill levels. You will learn from experienced, knowledgeable and skillful craftsmen. -There will be an Auction, Saturday evening, with donated items and items created by our instructors and participants. We also hold a raffle which includes items donated by multiple well known knife companies. GLPG continues with the historical trade blanket, you put on an item or items and pick a treasure as yours. You are encouraged to participate in the Auction, proceeds go towards supporting our instructors, a group of talented artists and craftspeople. Auction and raffle tickets will be at your expense. - Bring your own items for display, sale or trade. GLPG does not take a cut of your sales You will be responsible for your travel gas money, possibly some small fees for certain classes and special materials and if you feel the need for a small snack or two.
Live Auction: Open to the public and any family or friends you would like to invite. Auction items are all donations, many made by instructors and participants, during the event. All donations are welcome, particularly those that are applicable to primitive and traditional art forms. There is always a wide range of items to bid on such as fiber arts, basketry, arrow heads, archery and atlatl equipment; along with wood and black-smithed pieces. You will receive a auction bid number at registration for both auctions. We will accept cash, checks and credit cards.
Items are displayed as they arrive, values is listed, you sign your bidding number (every one will receive an Auction Number when registering) and Bid Amount, best Bid wins. The proceeds go towards compensation for our instructors. The Bidding will close Saturday evening at 6:00 pm
Second Annual Trading Post: Bing you wares to trade, make smart deals, trade with the best, let's see who will be the wisest trader in the land. The trading post will be held in the big tent and will be conducted by Tell and Fiber Guy. Everyone is invited to join in the fun. More information to be posted.
Trading Blanket for children and adults, put something on the blanket and you get to take something off. Pertinent item(s) that you have made, no longer use or would like to pass along. We start with youngest picking first and go to oldest.
You will need to bring a sharp working knife (ex: Mora knife 3 1/2" blade). Tools you can bring: Flashlight, hatchet, small saw. Favorite fire making implements for class with Tom Wilson. 10 Mora's with 3 1/2" blade will be available for sale. Abe will be holding a Sharping Class.
AL COLLINS : Complete carving Catlinite (Pipestone) all tools provided. No fee.
Heidi will return as the kitchen manager and our awesome chef. She has another great menu planned for 2022.

COOKING with Rachel and "Will Forage for Food". Daily foraging for wild foods and preparing and cooking classes, these culinary delights will be served with our evening meals.

Amy will be joining our fabulous kitchen crew, once again. She has delighted us with out delicious "camp" meals. She is also well versed in herbal medicinal medicine and their uses.
